An Example of Your Toddler's day
  • Language and LiteracyDevelopment

    • Use one or two words to label objects, express needs and wants
    • Build an understanding of words through interactions including reading books
    • Imitate reading behaviors like turning pages and babbling while looking at pictures
    • Finish predictable sentences
    • Identify objects and recall facts from books they have read.
    • Know names of the read books and identify them by the cover page.
    • Explore writing by scribbling on paper
    • Familiarize themselves with letters of the Alphabet
  • Mathematical Development

    • Relate numbers with their meanings using fingers.
    • Begin reciting numbers.
    • Understand words that compare or measure things (underbehindfaster)
    • Match basic shapes (triangle to triangle, circle to circle)
    • Explore measurement by filling and emptying containers.
    • Start seeing patterns in daily routines and things like floor tiles.
  • Social and Emotional Development

    • Show increased interest in interacting with familiar adults
    • Show increased interest in interacting with other children
    • Manage emotions independently or with the help of a familiar adult
    • Notice when other children are upset and try to help them feel better
  • Wellness and Physical Development

    • Learn to walk and start to run.
    • Show an increasing ability to control their hand movements.
    • Start to communicate using simple words.
  • Cognitive Development

    • Sort and classify objects by category for example animals, flowers, trees etc.
    • Show interest in counting and start to identify one, two, or three objects
    • Imitate complex adult actions through pretend play, for example playing house
    • Learn words like up and down and differences in size and volume
    • Respond to simple directions given to them
    • Find out new ways to play with toy instruments
    • Matching objects with their uses
  • Creative Expression Development

    • Explore creative impulses through visual art and craft
    • Learn how paint and paper move, and what they can do with them
    • Develop all kinds of fine motor skills like the ability to hold pencils and crayons
    • Develop imagination through dramatic play
    • Explore feelings, sounds and movement through music and dance
